Mountainview Church – June 2012
This church has been very generous to the homeless in Gresham. A men’s Bible study has specifically targeted some homeless who don’t make it to the day shelters in Gresham, to offer them food and bedding supplies. A group has also brought items for a meal on Saturdays at Anawim. And last year, Mountainview had a drive in their church, collecting hundreds of pounds of sleeping bags, blankets, socks and canned food!

The Chapel – June 2012
The Chapel is a Foursquare church in Troutdale, OR. They not only have a heart for worship, but a heart for the needy. They have started a meal two afternoons and one evening a week. They also have one of two running clothes closets in East Multnomah County. And they decided that they wanted to support Anawim’s work as well. They held a concert fundraiser for Anawim—which was wonderful. And they’ve been bringing a meal for our folks one Friday a month, where our folks and theirs get to know each other! We try to provide The Chapel with resources for their ministry and children’s clothes our folks can’t use.

St. Johns Wesleyan Church – June 2012
St. John’s Wesleyan has a food bank for poor families in North Portland. Although we are on the opposite end of town from them, we send a truck their way to pick up excess bread and ice cream that they have and they send a truck our way to pick up extra food, clothes and other items for their families. It’s been a wonderful benefit for both of us!

Jack “The Bread Man” – June 2012
Jack goes to stores and to food warehouses, picks up their extra and delivers it to various locations from Portland to Troutdale. he has left over, he brings over to us and we then have bread, produce, yogurt and other items to give away to our poor families and others.
Jack and his wife, Fran, are wonderful to have around and they usually do one drop off during our monthly BBQ so they can get some fresh cooked hamburgers and hotdogs!
